Analysis of professional magazine cover

In today's lesson i analysed the codes and conventions of a professional front cover.

Initial plans for my magazine

Price: £3.50 as this is a decent price to sell my magazines as my research varied from £2.30 - £6.99. i feel like this is a suitable price and is not too expensive.

Frequency of publication: During my research i found that indie magazine are promptly published every month. My magazine will be published monthly, as it would ensure that it is a quality magazine to purchase, this will provide feature articles to be in each issue.

Average issue size: The issue size i have chosen is 105 pages, as other indie magazines vary from this range of pages.

Regular content: I will include reviews, a gig guide, bands of the week and competitions to music events for example a festival. Also posters, fan letters and news to do with these indie artists/bands that I will include in my magazine.

Feature articles: Interviews with different artists within this genre of music. I will include different artists and what upcoming information belongs with their name and music position.

In today's lesson i researched the market place and found information that would help me for my magazine.

Initial ideas

The music genre i will be focusing on developing my music magazine will be Indie. I chose this genre as I am familiar with this type of magazine, which I am comfortable with producing. My target audience will be 15-30 as I believe this is a suitable age range that perhaps prefers this type of magazine. the age 15 is capable of finding a genre that they like, a modern band people this age may be familiar is The 1975. whilst from the eldest age of 30 may listen to is Oasis, which I will include mature bands. As a result, I will make this magazine suitable for both genders because it will gain a wider audience,also I intend to add a lot of bands that are within this genre to gain fan bases from these bands that I will include.
